Water spots form when hard water and mineral deposits dry on your vehicle’s paint or glass. As the water evaporates, minerals are left behind on the surface. When these deposits are exposed to repeated sunlight, they go through heat cycles that cause them to bond more aggressively to the clear coat and glass over time. The longer water spots remain on the surface, especially in direct sun, the deeper they can etch into the clear coat. Light to moderate water spots often sit on the surface and can be safely removed using specialized acidic treatments designed to break down mineral deposits. More severe water spots may require mechanical polishing to level the affected area and restore clarity. Because proper water spot removal requires a completely clean and decontaminated surface, this service cannot be performed without first completing a full exterior detail. The exterior detail allows us to accurately inspect the surface and apply treatments safely.
In cases where water spots have etched deeper into the clear coat, paint correction may be required to achieve meaningful improvement. If water spots have etched completely through the clear coat and into the paint or glass, full removal may not be possible through detailing alone. After successful removal, many customers choose ceramic coating for paint along with windshield ceramic coating to help protect both the paint and glass. Coating these surfaces makes water and minerals less likely to bond, reducing future water spotting and making routine washing easier.
This service is ideal for vehicles exposed to sprinklers, hard water, or frequent outdoor parking. We service cars, trucks, and SUVs throughout the Tri-Cities, including Kennewick, Richland, and Pasco. If you are unsure how severe your water spots are, you can schedule water spot removal in the Tri-Cities for an inspection and honest recommendation.
DISCLAIMER⚠️: Important Notice About Severe Water Spot Etching.
Some water spots can permanently etch through the clear coat and into the paint or glass due to prolonged heat exposure and mineral buildup. In these cases, complete removal may not be possible without refinishing or replacement. Results vary based on severity, surface condition, and length of exposure. We will always inspect the vehicle first and explain realistic expectations before any work is performed.
